Ensemble questions

Our tubaeuph quartet is in it's infancy. We are starting to acquire a library the ususal way - by buying it! Several members of the group have purchased (with their own money) music for us to play. My question is: If that person left the group, does the group have a responsibility to that person for the music he has purchased? Assuming the group wants to continue using those arrangements, does the rest of the group "buy out" his share, make copies of it for their own use, etc? (If we ever get a paying gig, that money would be used to purchase additional music.) Judging by the number of ensembles discussed on this BBS, I'm sure I'm not the only person that has come up with this question.

This question can lead to many others pertaining to the organizational/legal aspect of forming a performing ensemble. Can anyone suggest books, websites, or people that can address these concerns?

Thanks in advance.
