I have an old Conn 2-J which I purchased new from Minick's music in 1978. While having it chemically cleaned, I was told the horn was made in 1959. I have checked the serial # with the dating guides on line and they concur with the '59 date. Seems odd to me that these horns would be stored for almost 30 years before being sold. Does anyone have information regarding Conns which could account for this? This specific horn is lacquered brass with nickle bell flair, and is engraved Conn (no mention of Elkhart). The horn is due for an overhaul sometime soon (workmanship was frankly poor on this one), and would really like to know the real story about this thing.
