I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, we've seen a trend of "standardized" sound concepts in recent years. From this stems the misnomer that an F tuba should sound like a CC tuba. It is like saying an alto trombone should sound identical to a tenor trombone. There are reasons these different instruments exist. F tubas are used not just to make playing high easier, but for tonal and character considerations. These are the things that I think should be considered when choosing the appropriate instrument for a given work
