I'm a high school junior looking at colleges and would love to do
something music related after college (composition or performance). I
get the feeling that every professional performer or composer majored
in those subjects in college. I have other academic interests besides
music and am thinking that if you want to make a decent living, being
a music major no matter how good you are is a risk/reward situation.
Would I be all but eliminiating my chance at a career in music by not
making it my major in college? I would value responses from both
music majors and non-music majors who have succeeded.
