There was a thread discussing this not all that long ago. The general consensus was that there is absolutely nothing wrong with articulating through the teeth and there are potentially good reasons why it would be beneficial to tuba players to do so. Daniel Perantoni teaches his students to articulating against the back of the upper lip.. *and* he studied with Arnold Jacobs.. *and* as far as I can tell this method of articulating doesn't appear to holding him or his students back any. ;b My token generic advise, from a guy pretending to have a clue, is that your best bet is to spend less time focusing on the how of tuba playing and more time on the product. Yeah it sounds cliche.. but, in general, if you get out of your body's way and let it figure out for itself how best to get the job done.. it will most likely do a pretty good job at it.
good luck!
