A bass bone in C would certainly make tuning the several big B major excerpts with the tuba a lot easier. The Pictures Promenade in B, the B major section in The Ride, there are others. But then you might as well put the whole low brass section in C to make it consistent.

Seems that it would also have the same effect as on tubas, where many "orchestral" keys just lie better on the horn in CC.
