Of course, there's no substitute for learning things the right way, but have you considered keeping your BBb and adding an Eb to your arsenal? You'd still get to those treble clef Bb and Eb parts, and in the situation where you wound up with bass clef music, you could play it on your Eb by adding 3 sharps to the key signature and reading the music as if it were in Bb treble clef. And it'd give you the opportunity to start playing those wonderful Eb tuba parts in brass band music.

Before anyone comes down too hard on me, the way I understand the situation is that bass clef tuba music is a fairly infrequent thing for the poster. I'm assuming that he encounters BC tuba parts about as frequently as his American cousins encounter TC tuba parts.
