The change of the 981 leadpipe must have happened somewhere between the death of Fletch in the late 80-ties and my acquisition of my sample of that model some decade later. Actually the leadpipe sits significantly higher on my 981 than on my much larger York Master BBb.

An employee of Phil Parker of London told me, that they regularly put carrying rings on the 981. My personal solution would be to make my own "rings" of cloth as I have reported to do on my YEP 641, the superior comper from Yamaha until now.

PS: To save another posting, I here will make you aware, that you will have to pay VAT plus custom duties on imports from the US. Not to speak of the prohibitive price of insured and competent shipping. I have been there. It is only worthwhile for US-only gems.
