Yeah, I guess what I said doesn't apply to every situation. I was addressing it more to the "aspiring professional/frustrated college student" crowd(as that's where I am, and that's where I got the impression the original poster is). Winston Morris once said to me that if you plan on being a professional musician, "every mintute that you're doing something that's not improving you as a musician" (in your student years) "is a minute wasted". What improves you as a musician is pretty subjective- to some, it might be listening to recordings of others, etc, but for me there's no substitute for having the horn on my face.
