That's possible but I think it must have been for a very short time. I started studying with Oscar in 1975, just after he had retired from the DSO. By then, as I recall, Dan Perantoni was the official playtester for Custom, then Meyer's Music. I've never heard Custom Music referred to as "Detroit Music". Are you sure it is the same outfit? It probably is because Oscar steered my parents towards Custom when they wanted to surprise me with a tuba one year for Christmas. He helped them find a really nice used York Master BBb tuba, just like his own, that served me very well. But I don't remember Oscar being officially tied to Custom during the time I studied with him.
