Fender Jazz Bass. Seriously. The more I play/hear it, the less I want to bring a tuba to any jazz gigs. The first time I heard a friend of mine playing his(in another room) I thought "I've never heard a tuba with such wonderful tone before", and was really surprised to find out that that sound was coming from an electric bass. I'm not much of a poet, so I can't begin to put it's sound to words... but next time you're in a guitar shop, check out the Fender Jazz basses.
