I would post this on a sax site but the sax sites usually suck as far as response. I recently acquired a Bass Sax for $300 that I'm trying to repair. All I'm after for a finished product is a playable instrument so any dents that don't effect playablility are staying. However when fixing a slightly creased dent in the tube that runs from the gooseneck to the upper bow 2 small cracks formed (about3/8 inch). To silver solder these cracks, is it pretty much the same technique as soft soldering, only using different solder, flux and a higher temperature? Also if anyone has an old Martin Tenor or C Melody sax in disarray for fairly cheap, I might be willing to purchase it as I need to locate some tone holes to use on the upper stack.
