If the King is slimmer than a 2XJ, it's imperceptibly so (at least by photo standards). The bell collars between a 2xJ and a King Monster differ in diameter only by about 1/8"--and my leadpipe has been lowered from its factory position in the photo. The high bell-side bottom bow ferrule of a King might be a giveaway, but that's obscured by the player's arm. But Klaus has a point about any connecting gusset being hidden by the bell flare.

I don't think this is a 2xJ, because a front-action one should have the valves in the typical high angled Conn "ergonomic", not the lower more-or-less vertical placement that the player's hand position seems to point to.

Of course, this could also be a Holton or a Martin or any of the other big 6/4 basses too.

Forgive the idle speculation.

Cheers,
Chuck
