Are you sure he cuts the bow or unsolders it at the ferrels? It would make more sense to unsolder the horn at the ferrels....this is a pretty intense ordeal however and probably pretty costly. My advice, if it doesn't affect playing, which it doesn't, don't worry about it. You'll have burnt laquor that will need to be buffed and resprayed. Dropping a bow like that just doesn't sound like fun and anyone I've ever talked to about it discourages it altogether unless the only way to fix the horn.
