Isn't that a bit of a switch? I would imagine the HB-12 has a completely different sound as well as response from your Alex. Surely that was a consideration, right? I don't mean to be hypercritical at all.. I'm sure your Alex is a great horn.. but suggesting that he switch for better valves seems a bit dodgy to me. The Hirsbrunner strikes me as a completely different animal from an Alex suggesting to me that Mark probably just decided he wanted a different kind of sound. Not that I actually know the guy or have any inside information.

To get more to the meat of the issue(I'm not attacking.. i'm just curious), how would you compare your Alexander to a more standard german style horn that most F tuba players have had the opportunity to play such as the PT-15, in terms of sound and response?
