When I was in college, the horn prof required the horn students to do a 15 minute warm-up 3 times a day. This was in addition to any real practice time they did. For some of them it didn't do much, and I suspect it's because they weren't actually doing it. But for the majority, it really helped build stamina and endurance. Some borderline freshmen really took off with the routine. Even if I can't do a full practice session, I try to at least warm up every day with long tones, Remingtons and some short Arban exercises.
