I consider a warmup a means to getting the air moving and producing a good sound. Sometimes this happens in a minute or two, but other times it seems like hours are required to get the sound I am after. If you can produce good sound right away during
your evening session, why not just go straight to other material.

Split practicing sessions are usually more beneficial than one, long session. If you are working on something technically difficult, try working on it in the morning, then returning to it later in the day. The progress you make during the break can be astonishing!
