Ingo,

I'm scared to ask how you broke your malleus. I had a friend band director and tuba player have this done and I will ask and get back to you. I have had two tympanoplasties myself, but not for the same reason. Mine was due to severe scaring and perforations (sp?). When I had mine, the doc said about 10-14 days depending on how I felt. But I'm not sure that anything a doc says is definite (too many variables maybe). For instance, last week I had tubes put in my ears. I explained to the doc that I had rookie camp and band camp coming up. Told him hearing was a useful skill for a band director. He said I would be at full capacity the next day. 12 days later my right is still stopped up (haven't played either) so Your best bet is probably to allow a good lon gtime to recuperate A month maybe? I'm not a doctor so I know nothing.
