"Euphonium" used to be a copyrighted product name. To pretend that there are absolute distinctions between things called tenor horns, baritone horns, and "euphonia" is kinda silly, IMO.

Also, "baritone" is down-to-earth, sort of like "tuba" is in the way that the word comes off.

I wouldn't want to start referring to my tubas a "Beauprofundi", or something, when "TUBA" does it so well. For the same reason, I avoid "euphonium" and "euphonia".

To answer your question, "Yes, high D stinks on many euphonia/euphoniums."
