Bryan,
I'm an old guy, too old to consider this for myself, but I'm curious. What if you get enlisted and there are no openings available? Will they just not pass you on the audition (or not audition you at all) if there are no openings anywhere? Or will you wind up jumping out of airplanes or peeling potatoes? I seriously considered this right out of H.S., but in 1979 I didn't want to wind up in a combat unit, not with the trouble in Iran at the time. I didn't know anyone to call to ask about positions available, and the recruiters were vague enough that I decided it'd be best not to take my chances.

I, and I'm sure others, appreciate the info you're providing on this process. Thank you!
