I don't think I phrased my question very well but you may have answered it anyhow. Perhaps what should have been asked is: If you had long hair and a beard would you be concerned that that would hold you back in an audition situation, even if well groomed(beard trimmed close and hair pulled back). Also, would you merely dress nicely or would you dress to the nines(read: tux). Put another way, how much effort would you put forth to try to 'look the part'.
If, hypothetically speaking, I were to win a service band job I would be more than happy to play the game and do my part to fit in. Is dressing nicely enough to convey this?
