Another polish you might try is Zildjin cymbal polish. I've used it a couple of times and it's really good at cleaning up tarnish. It's not near as abraisive as Brasso, but not many things are...I've got an unlaquered horn and it got everything off the horn and made it look like there was actually laquor on the horn. You might try that as an alternative.
