So, you don't have a tuba yet, and you expect to win a job out of college.... good luck. You'll need to pick up an Eb or F tuba too... Lots of things to consider before you go and take auditions... Sounds like you need to think things through a little more... Oh yeah.. I say go with a nice big 4/4, like a hirsbrunner, or a 5/4. If you're strapped for cash, Rudy Meinl makes great horns, and they're quite large. It takes a little while to get used to the airflow that's required to put through these, but it's well worth it. If you buy a RUdy, you could find a used F, or Eb for sale... You really need to consider having your own horns before you decide you're going to go off and take auditions..
