Of course, you could always just play Carnival of Venice. It has been done before...
Really, its not that hard. Besides, it is a solo that every brass player should be familiar with. It is kind of a rite of passage. There are only a couple of the variations that offer any kind of serious difficulty and with some slow, careful practice it comes together very nicely.
I urge you to reconsider the Carnival. It might not be as insurmountable as you think.
