The whole problem isn't that it "looks" bad. I'm trying to get the idea of a column of air going from the bottom of my lungs to the mouthpiece. I think any shortage of breath problem I have may be partially resulting from the air in my throat having to sort of move over in order to get to my lips and into the horn. I've been playing this way for 4 years, and have been in all-region 3 years and all-state my senior year. I don't want to play for 3 more years and hit a wall in my playing because of embouchure problems, as opposed to fixing it now and getting better and better even after college. Personally, I would rather leave it how it is, but I also have to keep in mind what my teacher recommends. I don't know the point of this, I just felt like clarifying, I suppose.
