I agree with mjg. I do all kinds of wacky stuff with my tuba emouchure, but never had a teacher or colleague mention that it is in need of correction. Strangely, I did not become aware of many of my improper tendencies until beginning teaching and realizing that my embouchure was way wacked out. It never kept me out of the good collegiate groups or away from the many performance opportunities that arise. They even keep inviting me back.

The only place I have found problems with general improper embouchure have been in trying to double on other brass instruments, such as trumpet or horn.

As stated before, "if it aint broke...."
