That is a good idea!! It could be improved by putting together a 3 valve compensating euphonium and a 3 valve compensating alto horn in E natural rather than Eb. It would have a switch valve near the mouthpiece and have six valves being the original valves from each instrument. The key of E natural is chosen so that the whole chromatic scale could be produced without ever having to use the 123 combination which is the only combination that is too short on either of the compensating instruments. In addition the out of tune and often very sharp 6 open tone and notes derived from it on the Bb euph could be avoided by switching to the E natural horn. This would be a true discant euph and very useful as is the double discant French horn! If you are more interested contact me at
