My respect for you has begun to rebuild. I still don't agree with everything you've said, but you have taken a much more reasoned approach with your comments. I also want to clarify one of MY comments. I didn't mean to imply that the four 'worst' string players weren't still very good (guaranteed they're better than me!) I simply meant that four missing out of 50-something strings is relatively negligable, and that it wouldn't be the BEST of the players that were going. To be sure I don't have any experience that would cause me to agree or disagree with Dale's assertion that there is often dead-wood in orchestras, though I have certainly seen that happen in other tenured professions.

My best wishes to you, to the displaced players, and to the Houston orchestra.
