Lee,
I will email you this weekend more about the horn, and send photo as well. The Horn was apparently a school horn, normal abuse, poor PC type overhauls, and finally traded in to a local music store, where I stumbled upon it. Serial number is on the bell and indicates before 1960 according to serial number charts. For all the work it needs, the good side is that a local shop here (not tuba specialists but they do good work) says that the valves have good compression. The horn looks good from about 6 feet, but up close lots of minor ripples and dents tell another story. It's an interesting idea to restore to original. I'm a bass bone player who doubles, so what I need is a good playing tuba. I'm either going to fix this one up or possibly trade it or sell it for one that's already in good playing shape. Would consider usefull trade or partial trade for another tuba, possibly 186 sized BB flat or CC, or Compensating E flat.
