As a high school student, you are under the age of 18 - your body is still growing until age 21. Assuming you are not a shallow breather, you do not have the vital capacity to perform a phrase as long as an adult. That will come in time but until then take a few more breaths but make phrases musical. Wait until your respiratory system fully develops.
