I have found that Eb is the most common open false tone on a BBb tuba, and especially on big sousas. However, it can differ up or down. If the note you get is E, just put down the 2nd valve and you should get Eb. If you get D, it would seem you are out of luck for sounding the Eb. Other pitched tubas seem to have corresponding false tones.

I never tried different mouthpieces to see what happened with the false tones. Who knows, it might make a difference?
