Okay folks,

I am starting a paper on the history of the concerto for a graduate history class.

I need a few ideas. Which concerto should I do, Vaughan-Williams or John Williams, or something else? Strictly from the standpoint of history, I think the Vaughan-Williams is more important, but what about the John Williams? Does it have an interesting compositional story? And how can I make a big deal composition-wise on the VW when, if I remember correctly, it was conceived for harmonica...

Anyway, are there any books I should try to find on the subject of the tuba concerto?

Thanks for all the intelligent comments...

cdo
