I used to sell (maybe we still do - I have no idea. - ??) an inexpensive "top-loader" trumpet gig bag called a "G0-BAG" (brand name). It has some padding...not enough for an instrument (no gig bag does) but certainly enough to keep accessories from denting a tuba bell from the inside out.
See if your local music store has one of these.
