My biggest problem with transposing these parts is that when I have to do transposing (which is rare), it's ALWAYS in treble clef. For fun I'll read flute parts, french horn parts, etc. But when I try to transpose in bass clef, I see an accidental and interpret it as if it were in treble clef, and sometimes end up playing wrong notes as a result. Is it worth it to try and figure out how to transpose in bass clef when this is likely the only time I'll ever have to do it? I'm not sure. But you can bet that if any other tuba players show up to these rehearsals, they won't be able to transpose the parts.

For the record, I feel equally comfortable with BBb, CC, Eb and F tubas.

I do see your point, though.

Scott
