The principles of transposing are not that hard to learn. Trumpeters and especially hornists do it all the time.

The problem for non-Franco-Flemish bass clef brass players mostly is, that they are confronted with the situation so rarely, that it has no chance to become part of their "readily available" skills.

Players studying, practising, and auditioning for years solely on CC and F instruments, might suddenly find themselves earning their living mostly on BBb instruments. A situation they are expected to adapt to immediately.
