I agree with Sean. Music as a general course of study can be a good undergraduate degree, even for non-professional musicians. Many jobs don't require a degree in any specific thing.
But if you take this approach, go to a music school that mixes music with all sorts of other general subjects, and get a broad education. Some schools are oriented for those who want to be professional musicians, and others for those who want to study music. There is a difference.
