I gave one of my students, who is particularly interested in a PT6, this same advice and so he contacted Bob Tucci in Europe. Bottom line was that the price was almost identical to that of Custom. And that didn't figure in the shipping and travel costs. Don't forget that these people are not foolish enough to be played one against the other to the point that it costs them money. I still say the best bet is to not cross this bridge unless you have to. Make sure to try as many makes and models of tubas as you can and hope that the one you feel works best is also one you can afford.
