Jay, if I am not mistaking he also messed around with the Yorkbrunners for a while when they came out. I have seen some videos from the mid 80's with Metha and he is playing a Yorkbrunner, one with the regular silver bell and one with a thicker raw brass bell. These videos have the Tannhauser(sp), Till, Mahler 3 and Fanfare for the Common Man with Levine. He sounds incredible with that tuba. Now there is a slight chance that it could be the Holton I am seeing but I am pretty sure they were Yorkbrunners on the two videos. As I understand it the Holton was from his teacher Bill Rose and it had some pretty leaky valves so he did not really play it that much after he one the audition. This info has been passed on to me so if you have something different please let me know. The MW he played in the auditon was a model 32 that he bought in high school.
Pete
