I thought it might have been a Rudolph Meinl. I heard the same thing about Dohnanyi not liking the Alexander from my instructor.
There are alot of Closeups of Bishop playing in the concert, but they do not get close to see the the stamp (if it is stamped). 3/4 sounds like it would be a small horn for orchestra, but a lot of Rudys are about 1/4 bigger than comparably labeled tubas from other manufacturers. Have you seen the 6/4 BBb tuba they make? It looks like something out of a cartoon or Doctor Seuss book. Its huge. It almost puts the old Conn 2XJ's to shame.
