I can't reccomend any of the miraphone tubas. I just don't like their sound...it tends to get harsh when you play loudly. The Cerveny piggy is a nice horn, I got one my freshman year of school, but I found it t be severely limited. It has trouble producing a truly orchestral sound and it isn't very agile for a brass quintet. You may want to try a 3/4 Rudy Meinl CC. They are beautiful horns ideal for the playing requirments of college(brass quintet, band, brass choir etc.) You can find a used one for $3500-$4000. I play mostly in orchestras now and use a Rudy 5/4 CC. You also can't go wrong trying some Hirshbrunner 3/4-4/4 CCs. They are hard to beat. Don't make a decision quickly, try as many horns as possible and if you are anywhere near a major store, Tba exchange etc.,make a day ong trip to try as many horns as possible. I hope I have been helpful.
