Begging to disagree with you here . . .

My Alex is fifty years old, came from the factory unlacquered, and still looks new (meaning no corrosion at all anywhere and no "disintegration").

What exactly do you mean by "disintegrating"? I have yet to see that EVER except in cases where the instrument was VERY poorly maintained. And in those cases I have seen that occur with silver plate as well as lacquer.

Instruments disintegrate due to poor care by the player, NOT due to the finish.
