Some of the people who administer pawn shops aren't the only ones who seem not to pay much attention to whether something might not belong to the person who brought it in...
A few months ago, I "made it my business" to be the final high bidder on a Mirafone 186-5U-CC tuba that was being sold online by a national second-hand store...It obviously belonged to Wichita State University. Once I was the final high bidder, I insisted that they contact Wichita State. End of story.
