I'm in the market for a new (used) euph--pretty much narrowed down to Willson 2900, Yamaha 642, and Besson 967 models. Here's my question: appearance aside, why do those of you who play silver prefer it to a brass lacquer finish and vice versa? Do you claim any sonic or performance qualities for a particular finish? Or is it just a preference for a certain appearance. I'd especially like to hear from euphonium players.
BTW, anyone who is selling any of the above horns (or something else you think I should consider is welcome to send a private email).
