The vast majority of string professionals will go to a repair person who specializes in strings. From my very first lesson I dealt with the repairman recommended by my teacher, who also repaired the instruments of the very top professional string players in the area.
This is not a comment on your skills....just a comment on the customers.
Reading what you wrote, it is obvious that I should have been a repair person instead of a pro player; it would have been a much better fit. Maybe that will be my next career after I retire from engineering.
