Well, personally, I'm not in the habit of dropping my horn onto a wood floor, but I am in the habit of hauling it in and out of my trunk. And when I get home at 11pm after a long gig and the following long drive, I'm likely to knock my horn on the edge of my trunk while trying to get it out. And I'm tired of getting little dings in my Hirsbrunner because of the cheap foam in ProTec bags. I've got a RB bag for my F-tuba, and the protection is worlds better. That's why I've got a Cronkhite bag on order for my HB. There are dings in my horn that I know wouldn't be there if I had a better gig bag.

And js - I've got a Johnson case for my Hirsbrunner, but I'm not about to throw my back out trying to get it in and out of my car. Besides, I'd have to get a trailer hitch for it. It doesn't fit in my Civic!
