I've just received my 'new' Yamaha YCB-661 from Dave Fedderly at Baltimore Brass.
I spent a lot of time researching this purchase (I was after a small tuba with a big sound for jazz) and asking lots of questions on this board.

Just to say that without the advice of very knowledgable people here, I wouldn't have been brave enough to purchase 'sight unseen'. Ideally I would have liked to have flown across the globe (I live in Western Australia, where the temprerature has been in the 80s and low 90s for a while now...just thought I'd mention that), but it's not an option for me at the moment.

Thank you all those who advised me on this purchase: I'm pleased with the horn (so far!). It is added to my current 'stable': a PT6 for orchestra, and a Willson EEflat for solos.

Very timely to read Kenneth Sloan's thread on Yamaha tuning. I had to pull the slide several inches, but that was with a Schilke 69C4. Maybe I'll try something deeper...

Cheers,

Ian Easton
