I believe you answered your own question. That jerk (you can substitute
any other 4-letter word you'd like) is not a tuba player. I've played
for about 40 years and there is one thing I've noticed; all tuba players
exhibit the same kind, forgiving, sharing and pleasent personality. This
is no offense to the other low brass players out there. I've met maybe
nearly a thousand "tuba players" in my lifetime and I can only recall about
a half dozen or so that were playing the wrong instrument. A few had trumpet
player personalities and egos and others should have been playing french horns
and still a few others I am convinced should have had a rosen bag in one hand
and a bow in the other! Think about all of the tubists you've known over
the years and I believe you'll draw a similar conclusion.
