Hello all.

During the pregame festivities at yesterday's Superbowl, the Boston Pops peformed Fanfare for the Common man and Lincoln Portrait. The orchestra sounded very good and the brass sounded great. My question is...can we just get rid of the old spares in the BSO and just put in the guys from the Pops who don't play in the BSO instead. Of course, we will not mess with Chester but he's retiring so that point is moot; he is greatness, but with the current situation up in Boston I probably would rather go to a high school production of a musical or something rather than catch, lets say, Mahler 3 just cause I know I will be sorely dissapointed with the efforts of the brass section. I know this may seem crazy, maybe even controversial, but lets face it, compared to the other 'big 5' orchestras as well as the San Fran's, Minnesota's and such, it is a pretty bad scene up there and just isn't up to snuff with what those guys are getting paid and the tradition they are expected to uphold.
