Super-expensive string bass cases have AIR cushions all around the bass with AIR VALVES located on each of the air cushions. Those air valves release air when impacted, but release it slower than the speed of the impact. This technology could be incorporated into tuba cases, but the shapes and sizes of tubas are not as "standard" as string basses. (Yes, I know string basses vary a bit.) Further, some tuba players don't quite have the same attitute as some bass players regarding instrument protection. I believe these attitudes to be directly proportional to the prices of the instruments.
