Whatever tickles your fancy, and no, a little paint won't hurt your tuba. Just like laquer won't.

However, my first reaction was, "why the heckdidleydodah would you want to do this to your horn?" The reason for my reaction is that I think of it as a tatoo. I don't have one although I have thought about getting one. I just don't want to be stuck with donald duck stuck on my stomach for the rest of my life.

Just think about if you're going to keep the horn for the remainder of its life. And if you do keep it until the horn falls apart, go ahead. However, if you have your primary tuba painted, be very careful. I had a sticker on my mute and was asked to remove it. I can't imagine if I had flames painted in the bell of my horn. The commander would go ga-ga. :)
